RoboXR – Project Completion RoboXR June 26, 2026 13:21 pm The RoboXR – Extended Reality Machine Tending for Industrial Learning project has successfully reached its conclusion, marking an important milestone in the application of Extended Reality technologies for industrial education and workforce development. Implemented under the MASTER Open Call #2, RoboXR combined educational expertise from ECECT with industrial automation expertise from voraus robotik GmbH to develop an immersive XR learning environment that closely reflects real industrial workflows. The project built upon validated MASTER Open Call 1 assets while introducing industrial-grade software integration and realistic automation logic. Four Educational XR Scenarios Throughout the project, four complementary educational experiences were developed to guide learners through key stages of industrial robotics: AI-Assisted Layout Planning – designing efficient robotic workcells with AI support. Robotic Machine Tending – operating a complete machine tending cycle. Safety & Human–Robot Interaction – understanding collaborative robot safety and emergency procedures. Advanced Industrial Control – demonstrating industrial automation software integration and robot control. Together, these scenarios provide a progressive learning pathway covering planning, operation, safety, and industrial control. Bridging XR with Industrial Automation One of RoboXR’s key innovations was the successful integration of the XR training environment with an industrial automation software platform, enabling realistic robot motion, workflow execution, and industrial communication inside the virtual environment. This significantly enhanced the realism of the learning experience and reduced the gap between virtual training and real manufacturing environments. Successful Pilot Validation The educational scenarios were validated through pilot activities involving 24 participants from higher education and industry: University of Cyprus University of Nicosia Industrial experts and interns in Germany Additional participants from Cyprus Feedback from participants confirmed the educational value and realism of the platform. Key evaluation results included: 91% improved familiarisation with industrial environments 91% improved familiarisation with XR technologies 82% improved understanding of robot handling and programming 82% found the training easy to follow 82% would recommend the training Participants particularly highlighted the realistic industrial environment, safe learning conditions, and the engaging interaction with industrial robots. Dissemination Across Europe During the project, RoboXR was presented through multiple dissemination activities, including workshops, university demonstrations, exhibitions, networking events, social media campaigns, and presentations to educational and industrial stakeholders. These activities helped promote the project’s results and demonstrated the potential of XR technologies for industrial upskilling, in line with the dissemination objectives defined for the project. Looking Ahead Although the project has officially concluded, RoboXR provides a strong foundation for future XR-based industrial training initiatives. The educational scenarios, technical knowledge, and validation results demonstrate how immersive technologies can support vocational education, university teaching, industrial onboarding, and lifelong learning. We would like to thank the MASTER XR consortium, our partner voraus robotik GmbH, the University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, and all students, educators, and industry professionals who participated in the pilot activities and helped shape the final RoboXR solution. RoboXR Teaser Video Release RoboXR April 29, 2026 16:11 pm We are excited to share the teaser video of RoboXR. Traditional robotics training methods often rely on lectures and manuals, making learning time-consuming, costly, and sometimes unsafe. Access to real industrial environments is limited, and hands-on experience can be difficult to scale. RoboXR addresses these challenges by introducing an immersive training approach that brings real factory logic into virtual environments. Learning by Doing – in a Virtual Factory Through XR, learners can step into a simulated industrial environment and interact with robotic systems in a safe and engaging way. The platform enables users to: Control robots using natural voice and gesture commands. Perform machine tending tasks and workflows. Test and troubleshoot operations in real time. Gain practical experience without disrupting production. This approach allows learners to develop real-world industrial skills anytime, anywhere, without the risks or costs associated with physical training environments. Bridging Education and Industry RoboXR is designed to close the gap between theoretical learning and industrial practice by combining: XR technologies for immersive learning AI-supported interaction and guidance Industrial-grade automation logic The result is a training experience that reflects real factory conditions while remaining accessible and scalable.
